Work burn out is a feeling that many of us have experienced in today’s workplace, and is described as an overwhelming sense of being at the end of our rope professionally.  In a recent study, published by the Association for Psychological Science, there were three types of burnout identified:

Overload burnout

Overload burnout refers to burnout caused by excessive, frantic working until exhaustion sets in.  Overload burnout is associated with the emotional venting coping strategy.

Under-challenged Burnout

Under-challenged burnout is caused by boredom and a lack of personal development in the workplace.  Under-challenged burnout is associated with the avoidance coping strategy.
